Devils off-season wish list
With another poor post-season in the books many Devils fans believe it is time for change….I am one of them, here is my off-season wish list.
1. Fire Jacques Lemaire, He is a great coach and can run a great defensive system however, come playoff time everyone steps up their defense. So if you are a defensive team you don’t have the advantage. Look at the Sabres for example, they are another high seed who is having trouble due to their system.
2. Hire Guy Carbonneau as his replacement, I have always liked him and his coaching styles, it is time to come and let players like Zach Parise, Travis Zajac and hopefully Ilya Kovalchuk take on a more offensive role.
3. Don’t re-sign Paul Martin, he had a terrible start to the year and then got injured. When he came back guess what….he wasn’t any better then he was at the start of the season and produced nothing in the playoffs.
4. Re-sign Kovalchuk, I don’t want him as much if Lemaire is still here but I would still want him. If Lemaire gets fired I would be thrilled to have him back.
5. Upgrade goaltending, I am not sure if I still want Brodeur, regardless if he is still here or not we need a Jon Bernier or Carey Price.
6. Get A-Train, I have always loved Volchenkov and would love to see him as a Devil.
This concludes another great regular season followed by a poor cup run.

It seems like the Senators will have trouble re-signing Volchenkov and I always thought he would be a perfect Devil. Kind of like a Scott Stevens minus the offense or Ken Daneyko minus the fighting. Good defensive defenseman who blocks shots and will throw a hit but is not a fighter That said, there will probably be a lot of competition for his services..
